Octopus Octi #AtoZChallenge2015

Rating: PG-13

“Where the fuck are they?” Oakes screamed at Octavius.

The man bearing the brunt of his rage was silent as he examined the aquarium. “Did you lock it?” Octavius asked.

Oakes’ blood began to boil. “Of course I did!”

“Well who fed them last?” Octavius’ stance was confident and sure like he knew he wasn’t the one to feed their two new octopi.

His eye muscle twitched. “I did but I know I-!…” Oakes trailed off as his gaze zeroed in on a pink, shiny blob crawling up the side of the tank followed by another. “… locked, it.”

“What’s wrong with you?”

Oakes could only point in answer. When Octavius finally spotted them his mouth hung open and his eyes went wide. Each octopus had what looked like a hot dog grasped in their greedy tentacles. Once to the top they maneuvered and wiggled until they found a tiny sliver of space between the locking top and aquarium rim. They squeezed back into their found hundred gallon tank only to loose their hot dog prize since the hole wasn’t big enough for it to fit through.

“Did they just steal our lunch?” He asked.

“Uh-huh.”

“I’ll get more hotdogs and you fix that.” He said in a rush doing his best to avoid the fact that they nearly tore each other’s heads off. Octavius, bless him, seemed to take the hint and didn’t offer an argument.
