Phoenix was pissed. If Piper didn’t show up and soon he was going to kill him.

“Nix!” He turned and saw Piper hurrying towards him with a bouquet of pink paeonias. Piper approached with a smile and gave him a kiss. “I am so sorry I’m late, there was traffic.” Piper gave him the flowers and kissed him again. “A token of my sincere apologies.”

Phoenix couldn’t stay angry in the face of flowers for being late. “Fine.” He rolled his eyes and turned away while grabbing Piper’s hand with his free one. “You can pay latter.”

“The flowers aren’t enough?”

“You’ve cancelled three lunch dates and forgotten about two dinners. That’s just this week. You are not even close to enough.”

“I am sorry, Nix.”

Phoenix sighed. “I know you are. I know. Come on, let’s have dinner.”

“I turned my phone off. I’m all yours for the evening.”

Those two little sentences held everything for Phoenix. They’d been fighting over Piper’s time at work. Phoenix felt like a selfish asshole since Piper saved lives but he wanted his husband back even if it’s just for a little while.
