Another Adventure #AtoZChallenge
Adventurers don’t like being tied down to anything. It’s a burden and a bit of an annoyance. Not for the adventurer you see but for the the ones the adventurer leaves home. Family and friends worry over the adventurers whereabouts and health. Mainly the health. Yeah, the health is a big thing with family.
This aspect hits home (metaphorically speaking) as Allan looked down at his casted leg. He broke the damn thing two and a half weeks ago climbing a rock face. A flock of birds, he didn’t see, rushed out as he passed a crevice.
Damn things flew out of there breaking his grip and of course he fell and he may have screamed like a girl. Okay, fine. He did but so would you if you fell, harness or not. The smack against the rock face is what broke his leg and his ankle. Getting down wasn’t easy but what really sucked was no radio signal. Allan had to scoot his ass a hundred yards up hill to get any service. Now that sucked giant hairy donkey balls.
“Mister Allan Allen, how are you this morning?” Allan looked up as his nurse, Abram, walks in with today’s round of happy drugs. He sort of frowns at his own name. His parents had a real sick ass since of humor to name him Allan Allen. Kids teased him all through school till some jock decided it was “cool.”
Allan waved indicating he’s in a good mood. What? Some days he’s not. “When can I get out of here?”
Abram laughed. “You aren’t allowed to leave until you’re decently healed.”
“That is just bullshit.”
Abram laughed again, this time leaving behind a sense of peace in Allan. “You told me you would say that when you first arrived and, made me promise not to let you leave.”
“Fucking-A.” Allan mumbled before slouching back in his bed. He did make Abram promise and, by damnit the son of a bitch made him promise not to do anything stupid till he’s released. Well wasn’t that stupid as hell?
“You are quite the character Mister Allen.” Abram moved closer to the window, the light caught the red highlights in Abram’s blonde hair, and held out today’s happy pill ration with a smile. The Lilly pen on Abram’s nurse outfit catches Allan’s eye.
Maybe, just maybe, Allan can stand this place a little longer. Especially, if it means Abram will be his nurse.
